The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz, WrestleMania 2000

Part 1

Part 2

Highlights

WrestleMania 2000 (chronologically known as WrestleMania XVI) -- April 2, 2000

The second main feud at Wrestlemania heading into the event was between Edge and Christian versus The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) versus The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) for the World Tag Team Championship in a Triangle Ladder match. On the January 17 edition of Raw, Jeff Hardy was scheduled to face Bubba Ray Dudley in a match. The match saw Jeff pinning Bubba Ray after delivering a Swanton Bomb. After the match, the Dudley's attacked the Hardy Boyz, in which they powerbombed Matt on top of a table.

On the January 20 edition of SmackDown!, Matt was placed in a match again D-Von Dudley. The win was given to Matt, after a disqualification took place. Jeff and Bubba Ray made their way to the ring, in which both teams began brawling against one another. Bubba Ray prepared to powerbomb Matt into a table, that was set up by the Dudley's. Bubba Ray, however, was hit by Jeff with a chair, causing him to fall onto the tables. The Hardy's then set up a table of their own and put D-Von on it, and Matt proceeded to perform a legdrop on D-Von through the table.

At the Royal Rumble, the Hardy's defeated the Dudley's in a Tag Team Tables match. The following night after the Royal Rumble, the Dudley's showed respect towards the Hardy's in which they would help them defeat the New Age Outlaws for the World Tag Team Championship. In return, the Hardy's would have to grant the Dudley's a title shot at the Tag Team Championship. During the tag title match, the Dudley's stopped the three count, after the Hardy's had the match in their favor and allowing the Outlaw's to retain the titles. After the match, the Dudley's then went onto perform the 3-D on them.

Part 3

No Mercy -- October 5, 2008

Another great match that featured tons of spots I've never seen before. The string of clean finished ended though. The finish of the match saw Michaels climbing the ladder and Lance Cade ran in to break it up. HBK superkicked Cade and started to climb the ladder. Jericho climbed on the other side of the ladder and the two both grabbed the belt. The were each pulling on the belt before Jericho headbutted Michaels and got the belt to retain the title. Great finishing sequence.Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Chris Jericho

WrestleMania 23 (WrestleMania XXIII) -- April 1, 2007

The third annual Money in the Bank ladder match was the first match that aired on pay-per-view, featuring eight participants; Edge, Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton from Raw, King Booker (with Queen Sharmell), Mr. Kennedy, Matt Hardy and Dave Finlay from SmackDown!, and CM Punk from ECW. The match featured many notable spots, including points where Edge performed the Spear on all the other opponents, followed by Randy Orton doing the same by leveling many of the participants with his RKO later in the match.

Mr. Kennedy missed a Kenton Bomb and landed on a ladder on the back of his neck. He instead received a Swanton Bomb from Jeff Hardy. Several dangerous ladder spots were also featured, including Orton performing an RKO on CM Punk whilst standing on the ladder, and King Booker hitting his Book End to Orton from the top of the ladder as well. Midway through the match, Jeff Hardy climbed a fifteen foot-high ladder inside the ring and on his brother, Matt Hardy's urging, he performed a leg drop off of that ladder onto Edge, who was lying prone on another ladder outside the ring, set-up on the ring apron and the barricade. Due to the impact, the ladder on which Edge was placed, broke in half and he, along with Jeff, were severely injured.

They were carried off on stretchers by the paramedics. Later, when Booker was about to retrieve the contract briefcase, Matt Hardy held Booker's wife, Queen Sharmell as a hostage, threatening to perform his Twist of Fate on her. Booker went to her aid and received the Twist of Fate from Matt. Finlay fought Matt for sometime in the ring, and also performed his Celtic Cross to Matt onto a ladder.

Finlay's associate Hornswoggle emerged from under the ring and attempted to retrieve the briefcase for Finlay. He was stopped by Kennedy, who performed his Green Bay Plunge on Hornswoggle. Kennedy went on to win the match, only after knocking CM Punk off a ladder by hitting him with another ladder.

Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior, Wrestlemania VI

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

WrestleMania VI -- April 1, 1990

For the first time in WrestleMania history, the main event of WrestleMania VI was a title-for-title match, as Intercontinental Champion Ultimate Warrior took on WWE Champion Hulk Hogan.

Champion vs. Champion. The two biggest names in the business. Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior. It was “The Ultimate Challenge.” It was the main event for WrestleMania VI in which both Hogan's WWE and the Warrior's Intercontinental Championship were on the line.

In what went down as one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history, both Hogan and Warrior gave it their all for nearly 20 minutes. After Hogan escaped from a Warrior splash, the adrenaline began to run through his body and Warrior saw that all-too-familiar look in his opponent's eyes – Hogan was about to finish the Warrior off.

Hogan nailed the Warrior with a boot to the face and went for the patented leg drop to end the match. But at the last second, Warrior moved and nailed a stunned Hogan with a second splash to win both championships and the “Ultimate Challenge!”

In a true show of sportsmanship, Hogan handed Warrior the WWE Championship after the match. The two then shared an emotional embrace in the center of the ring.

Part 1

Part 2

Survivor Series -- November 23, 1994

The feud between The Undertaker and Yokozuna began at Survivor Series 1993. During an elimination match, Yokozuna was unable to injure The Undertaker, despite slamming The Undertaker's head into the ring steps and performing the Banzai drop on him.

A match was booked for Royal Rumble 1994, in which The Undertaker would challenge WWF Champion Yokozuna for the title in a Casket match. During the match, which featured a no-disqualification clause, Mr. Fuji, Yokozuna's manager, hired nine other wrestlers to interfere on Yokozuna's behalf. Yokozuna won the match after opening The Undertaker's urn, which, according to the storyline, contained the secret to The Undertaker's powers. After the match, The Undertaker appeared on the video screen and vowed to return to the World Wrestling Federation one day.

He was not seen for several months, although, in reality, he was taking time off wrestling to allow injuries to heal. The Undertaker returned at SummerSlam 1994, defeating an impostor pretending to be The Undertaker. A rematch against Yokozuna was scheduled for Survivor Series. This was also to be a Casket match, but Chuck Norris was brought in as a special outside referee to prevent interference

Part 4

SummerSlam -- August 29, 1992

The event concluded with the second main event, a contest for the Intercontinental Championship between champion Bret Hart and challenger "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, who was accompanied by boxer Lennox Lewis. In the opening minutes, Hart used his technical wrestling abilities and Smith relied on his power advantage.

Hart got control of the match with a reverse atomic drop and a Samoan drop. Smith came back with a monkey flip, but Hart regained the advantage with a bulldog and a plancha. Smith eventually recovered and tried to pin Hart with a back slide. Hart escaped the pin attempt and wore Smith down with sleeper holds. Smith gained the advantage, however, and used power moves to control the match, including a powerslam and a variety of suplexes. Hart managed to place Smith in the Sharpshooter, Hart's signature submission hold.

Smith escaped the hold, however, and threw Hart against the ropes. While running back at Smith, Hart attempted a sunset flip. Smith countered the move and pinned Hart to win the Intercontinental Championship. Immediately after the match, Hart refused to shake Smith's hand. He soon changed his mind, however, and hugged Smith as well as Diana Hart, who was celebrating with her husband

WrestleMania XXIV -- March 30, 2008

Ric Flair's "Career Threatening" match against Shawn Michaels was next, which stipulated that Flair would have to retire from wrestling if he had lost. At the start of the match, both superstars engaged in a series of counters, and then Flair shoved Michaels in a corner, making "Old Yeller" comments to him. In retaliation, Michaels slapped Flair in the face, which caused him to start bleeding from the mouth. Later, Michaels tried to go for his Sweet Chin Music, but stopped in the process and Flair capitalized by trapping him in his figure four leglock.

Afterward, Michaels finally delivered the Sweet Chin Music to Flair, but the latter kicked out to the pinfall attempt. Michaels then trapped Flair in his modified figure four leglock, but Flair delivered a thumb to the eye to Michaels to break the submission. As Flair was delivering chops to Michaels' chest, Michaels hit a second Sweet Chin Music.

After getting up on his feet with a worried face, Michaels said to Flair "I'm sorry, I love you," before nailing a final Sweet Chin Music and thus pinning Flair to end his 35-year long wrestling career.

After the match, Michaels left quickly and Flair got a standing ovation from the crowd. An emotional Flair embraced his family at ringside and then, as he proceeded to go backstage, he thanked the crowd for their support.

WrestleMania XXV also known as "The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania" -- April 5, 2009

The next match pitted The Undertaker against Shawn Michaels. Michaels made his entrance descending on a platform to symbolize the light; in sharp contrast, The Undertaker entered second ascending from the floor with fire shooting up from the stage. The match started out with a fast pace by both men going for strikes to have them countered before Michaels feigned a knee injury to gain the advantage, and the pace slowed.

This led to an exchange of signature moves and submission holds, which saw Michaels able to escape The Undertaker's signature chokehold, Hell's Gate and dodge multiple attempts at the chokeslam while his adversary blocked attempts at Michaels' superkick dubbed the Sweet Chin Music. The action went to the outside of the ring with Michaels attempting a backflip from the top rope called the moonsault, only to have The Undertaker swat away the attempt; this was followed by The Undertaker climbing into the ring, obtaining a running-start, and jump straight over the top rope, only to have Michaels dodge the attack and pull the nearby cameraman into harms way with The Undertaker hitting the cameraman with The Undertaker nearly landing on his head. He remained on the floor of the arena with the referee checking to see if he was alright before he headed into the ring and proceeded to count; if The Undertaker were to have not gotten in the ring by the referee's count of ten, he would have lost the match (referred to as a count-out), but he managed to return to the ring by a count of nine.

The match continued with both men performing all of their respective finishing moves to with both men unable to win through these moves. The Undertaker finally won the match after Michaels ascended the top rope, attempting to perform another moonsault only to be caught in the midst of the move by his opponent to be dropped by his finishing maneuver, the Tombstone Piledriver, and pinning him. As a result of this victory, The Undertaker remained undefeated at WrestleMania, extending his record to 17-0.

Part 3

WrestleMania X -- March 20, 1994

The WWE has featured many family feuds, but the dispute between Bret and Owen Hart was legendary. In the storyline, Owen resented Bret and attacked him after the duo lost a Tag Team Championship Match to The Quebecers. WrestleMania X-Seven -- April 1, 2001

There’s little doubt that the three most electrifying tag team duos of the early 2000s were the six men in this bout, and they didn’t disappoint in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match on a huge WrestleMania X-Seven card. This match is considered one of the most extreme in WWE history, thanks to the damage the wrestlers put their opponents (as well as themselves) through. Highlights included Jeff Hardy being on the receiving end of Edge’s spear from on top of a ladder, and the Hardy Boyz’s swanton bomb from 16 feet in the air.

Part 3

Part 4

WrestleMania 13 -- March 23, 1997

The use of foreign objects never makes a wrestling match dull, and this fight was no exception. Specifically, this was a No Disqualification Submission Match where anything went, and Austin and Hart went wild on each other with a steel chair, a timekeeper’s table and even a television cable. A bloody Austin finally submitted to Hart’s Sharpshooter, and though Shamrock ruled Hart the winner, Brett continued to pummel an unconscious Austin after the match. As a result, Hart was booed and became a heel (a villain), while Austin turned into a face (a good guy).

WrestleMania X-Seven -- April 1, 2001

This match was a true brawl in every sense: The referee was attacked and knocked out by an angry Undertaker, giving the rivals a chance to fight dirty with no authority figure in the ring. The action went back and forth with several shifts of momentum, and included shots with a steel chair and blows from Triple H’s sledgehammer. Triple H looked to have the upper hand after hitting Undertaker in the face with the hammer, but the latter quickly reversed the strike and finished off Triple H to maintain his perfect record at WrestleMania.

Badd Blood: In Your House -- Oct. 5, 1997

Hell in a Cell matches are a staple of the WWE, and this was the one that started it all. Undertaker and Michaels had been feuding throughout the summer of 1997, beginning after Michaels ended Undertaker’s shot at the title with a blow from a steel chair. Leading up to this match, it was rumored Undertaker was a murderer, having burned down a building as a child, killing his parents but leaving his brother, Kane, alive but horribly disfigured. Kane made his debut during the match, breaking into the cell and using Undertaker’s Tombstone move against him, allowing Michaels to seize control and win.

WrestleMania X -- March 20, 1994

The feud between Ramon and Michaels began in the months leading up to WrestleMania X. The two wrestlers argued as to who was the rightful owner of the Intercontinental title (Michaels was stripped of the title due to a suspension and contended he hadn’t lost it in the ring). The two foes battled it out high above the mat in a ladder match, which ended when Ramon grabbed the hanging belt and was crowned champion. The action-filled bout was crowned 1994’s "Match of the Year" by Pro Wrestling Illustrated and is regarded as one of the top matches in WWE history.

King of the Ring -- June 28, 1998

This match culminates with Mankind getting slammed through the cell, falling 16 feet and being knocked unconscious. It helped pace Mankind’s career as a main event wrestler, showing he could take a real beating. Video clips of Undertaker throwing Mankind through the cell roof and to the mat below (this was an unplanned “bump”) are among the most popular in wrestling history. To this day, Mankind cannot remember long stretches of the match, showing just how real it was.

Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant, WrestleMania III

WrestleMania III -- March 29, 1987

This match put pro wrestling on the map for good. A record 90,000-plus fans took in the match at the Pontiac Silverdome, which was founded on a spectacular feud between the two headliners: Hogan as the all American hero and Andre as the French heel. Both men were the biggest names in the business at the time, and this match is considered the crowning moment in each man’s career. After Andre brutalized Hogan for much of the match, coming close to pinning him on a couple occasions, a visibly exhausted Hogan summoned all his energy to scoop slam Andre, then finish him with the famous leg drop. This match was far from being technically superb, but its historical significance cannot be disputed.

Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, WrestleMania III

Part 1

Part 2

WrestleMania III – March 29, 1987

Savage was obsessed with details, and the match was highly choreographed by the two fighters, rather than being done spur of the moment. As a result, this match featured exciting near misses and an impressive 19 two-counts. Because of the perfect technical execution of the match, it is often regarded as the best of all time and it wasn’t even the headliner of WrestleMania III.
